这集片名来自1938年希区柯克的名片《失踪的女人》，也就从现在时变成了过去式。
由于一场雪崩，造成铁路被堵，一批旅客滞留在一个小旅馆，其中有一位艾瑞斯小姐结识了一位自称是家庭教师的弗洛依。几天后火车通了，在火车上艾瑞斯一觉醒来，发现坐在对面的弗洛依不见了，回车厢的人甚至否认见过弗洛依，只有一位名叫吉伯的青年相信艾瑞斯。两人开始寻找失踪的弗洛依，在寻找过程中他们发现了一个重大的秘密……
